Haha niceone. Love that picture asleep with the cat. Proves they are just as much of a pet as an egg layer
 
Ex bats are lovely, bit bedraggled to start with but after about a week become perky and are friendly chooks. Australorps are gentle and great layers, Pekin bantams are sweet and child-friendly, but don't lay very well. Whatever you choose I'm sure they'll be lovely, after all, you can never go wrong with chickens! Good luck! :)
