11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

My eggs were too early to be counted in this year's HAL, but I'd like to share my newest additions to help all those in need of a quick chick fix before your own eggs hatch.

So far I only have 2 out. Both are lav orps.

Well did a candle of the chicken eggs set for the hal. Looks like only 2 were fertile. If my rooster doesn't pick up the pace may end up in a stew pot, if I find another one. Have another 24 eggs to set on Thursday this week. From this pen.
Will candle turkey eggs later in the week.

Well, I’m done. I had a malfunction and the thermostat got stuck, when I got home they were 130 degrees.

I'm so sorry! Why would they even allow incubators to go that high! That's heartbreaking. Do you know how long it was that high? Maybe they're ok if it was a short spike?

I don’t know for sure. I checked them about 1pm and got home around 6. I immediately pulled them out. And then candled. Nothing’s moving.

... And here's the hen who's getting the April Fools Prank. Not only will she hatch more chicks than eggs, but they will be bigger than her in about 3 weeks!

Wait a bit. Once they get back to normal temps they could start wiggling again.

x2 It doesn't hurt to get the temp back down and see what happens. Perhaps it was just a brief spike. If not, you're no worse off.
