17 week old brown leghorn laid her first egg!

I was waiting for them to start laying before releasing them in the flock so I'm very excited for them! My cockerels were released 6 weeks ago but my girls have remained separated from the flock and cockerels by wire in a divided run. They'll have plenty of nest boxes and won't have to lay in the floor anymore. I cut their wing feathers on one side yesterday and released them today with the flock thanks!

Congratulations. I too recently added 6 brown leghorns (one died falling off the roost) to my Welsummer flock. They look very similar except the comb & white ears. I am working toward Welsummer breeding for my area. So, I wanted some egg layers that looked similar and easy to distinguish the eggs apart.

Since then, I've really grown fond of them. They remind me of Miss Prissy from Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.
