So to do something vastly different this year for the contest we will have teams!

There will be two equal teams, sign-up will be below:

Each team will have a (sticky?) post in the GJF section with a list of the team members and as a place to post the pictures as they are being converted and discussed.

Each team will complete a coloring book, each book will need to be finished before:
Dec 31st, 2012- 12:00AM EST.

Short Rules

 • Sign up before 6/6/12 12:01 AM (post in this thread telling us you want to participate)
 • Deadline 12/31/12 12:01 AM
 • You will be assigned a team randomly
 • You need to do one coloring book picture, maybe more stuff, ask your 'Sheriff'
 • Your 'Sheriff' will help you, so will 'Peacekeepers' (if you want to be a sheriff let us know in this thread first)
 • Have fun
 • Team list (in green) and rule clarifications (in purple) are at the bottom of this post

Long Rules

Team Building

 • 'Sheriffs' are Team Captains, 'Deputies' continue the project if the captain need help or is absent, 'Peacekeepers' are rule judges and helpers.
 • 'Sheriffs' are responsible for making sure all the pages are numbered, included, printable, and in PDF format, they may contact 'peacekeepers' or their own teammates to help them with this.
 • 'Peacekeepers' cannot participate in the contest as Sheriffs, Deputies, or team members. These people will help both teams in the following ways, change formats to PDF, get the correct page numbers or check fact sheets- they are also available to clarify rules.
 • 'Sheriff' must appoint a 'Deputy' to carry on the project- In case of emergency, computer breakdown, or vacation - the a 'Deputy' steps up they need to appoint '2nd Deputy'.
 • Possible 'Sheriffs' will be chosen by our staff or 'peacekeepers' from people who apply by sending an e-mail/PM to FireTigeris.
 • all people who want to participate as a team member please post in this thread - teams will be assigned evenly- the first non-'Sheriff' to post will be on team A, the second non-'Sheriff' to sign up will be on team B, third (if they are not a 'Sheriff') team A... and so on
 • Teams must be set by June 30th, 2012 12:00am - teams should be even within one person.
 • Each team should have a graphical artist or graphically talented person that can help clean up artwork, these people will be participating normal teammates otherwise.
 • Teams may feel free to come up with a name

The requirements for each coloring book will be :

 • A cover - giving a preview to that coloring book
 • Numbered pages (for the table of contents below, so that everyone gets credit)
 • A table of contents (with the preferred name or user names of each artist) https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/636201/table-of-contents-example-for-2012-ccoloring-book-contest#post_8542470
 • A game ( word-search, maze, puzzle, crossword, connect the dots, match the items, fill in the blank, color by number, any game that one might see in a coloring book)
 • A Fun Fact page- but be sure all the facts are true! (this will be triple checked be careful)
 • Pictures for coloring edited to be easy to color ONE per teammate not counting optional pages or other required pages. (remember the final pages must be numbered so the artist can be reconized)

Optional Pages may include:

(each book may chose up to two of the categories below)

 • Seasonal pages, not to exceed 4 (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall or the holidays associated with these seasons (your choice) (for the entire team, each team member, up to four team members may do one)
 • other poultry pages, not to exceed 4 (ducks, geese, quail, doves, Emus -any poultry) (for the entire team, each team member, up to four team members may do one)
 • additional games, not to exceed 4 (for the entire team, each team member, up to four team members may do one)
 • additional fact pages, not to exceed 4 (for the entire team, each team member, up to four team members may do one)

Additional rules

 • required and optional pages do not "count against" an artist, that is an artist can do ONE required page, ONE coloring page and ONE optional page if desired, anyone with the ablity can help clean up images and get then into the correct format.
 • all final submissions will need to be in PDF format and cleaned up so that when it's printed it's nice to color.
 • The winning book will be featured on the main page available to download- any other prizes will be subject to the staff.
 • Please don't take a photo and just convert it to Black and White - these converted photos are too busy to color and often do not place well in individual scoring. If you want to use photo conversion please clean up the artwork for a coloring book.
 • Use only your own work no matter the original source
 • You do NOT need words on the coloring pages, but can have words. The page number will be connected with the table of contents.
 • Have lots of fun

PDF conversion

There are many programs that can convert images to PDF format.
I use http://docupub.com/pdfconvert/ as I have never had problems with it and it can do a bunch at a time
Feel free to use any you like.

Graphical Editing

There are many programs that can help you edit pictures.
I use GIMP http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ as I have never had problems with it and it can do a bunch at a time
Feel free to use any you like.

Expectations

 • IF there cannot be found two graphically talented people, one for each team, we will ask the one who volunteers to work for both teams with a possible reward.
 • The deadline, Dec 31st, 2012- 12:00AM EST is -final- after which the books will be posted in a way that they can be seen by all and voted on.
 • The vote will be AFTER the holidays please- we will need time to collect the files and post them in such a way that they are usable - everyone is allowed to vote.
 • Expect a "Table of Contents" example 'soon' I will post the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/636201/table-of-contents-example-for-2012-ccoloring-book-contest#post_8542470 and in the rule clarification section below.

No page must have words on it (except the Fun Facts page), any page may have words on it.

The art or focus does not have to fill the page, it does need to be large enough when printed to color.

Optional pages: Each team picks two categories for a total of 8 optional pages, 4 each category (for the entire team, each team member, up to four team members, may do one) that is no team member may do two 'optional' pages.

If you have no scanner, there is pleny of time to send your artwork to somone on your team that does.

could i be on team a and if you need a good drawer person i can help
Sure you can be on a team. The contest is about drawing color book pages. So good drawers are appreciated. Now if you are good at editing pictures with computer programs and know how to convert them to PDF let me know. We need another person that is good at that.
