Hobby: Organ

• What is it that you love about this hobby?

I enjoy playing music for myself and for whoever comes into the church while I happen to be practicing.

• When do you do the Hobby?

I practice organ at least once a week.

• What sacrifices do you make to be able to practice your hobby?

There’s not a lot of sacrifices but there’s a couple stories:
Once I agreed to do a working interview so we all got in the car that afternoon and drove fifteen hours to the church (stopping overnight). We arrived an hour before church began!
Another time we were staying in a hotel and we drove two hours one way early in the morning so I could play for my church (twice)! The choir knew I was gone and was shocked to see me there!

I would consider myself an adept.

• Are you lucky enough that this hobby is part of your job/income?

It can be, if there’s a position available.

• What is it that you love about this hobby?

I love putting colors on the canvas and trying to get them as realistic as possible.

• When do you do the Hobby?

Whenever I’m feeling inspired and have at least a couple hours available

• What sacrifices do you make to be able to practice your hobby?

None

• Are you an amateur? An adept? An expert?

I have more hobbies than time.
My first hobby is knitting. My Grandma taught me when I was about 5. I'm a lefty, so she taught me to mirror her- so I knit backwards. lol I have since learned to knit "righty". I love to make fingerless gloves, sweaters, socks, hats.

The short sleeve sweater is made from my handspun yarn, and the mitt was spun, designed and knit by me.

I almost forgot the knitted chicken doorstop!

My hobby is cake decorating. I love to bake and about 7 years ago I was lucky enough to land a job at a local bakery where the owner taught me everything I know. I have left the bakery life behind me but I still make cakes for friends and family and have been commissioned for several parties and two weddings. My most recent cake was for my brother's wedding in September this year.

I love to work with buttercream and primarily work with piping designs and fruit - I don't like fondant. I've been lucky enough to get paid for my work and decorated cakes professionally for about five years. I love being the "cake lady" and jump at the chance to make cakes whenever I can.

I have created a chicken cartoon world called Mabel's World. It is now a 106 page book! Mabel is a chicken who "thinks outside the egg", so to speak. To the annoyance of her coopmates, Sandy, Marmalade, Melvina and Beatrice, Mabel is interested in all kinds of things from reading, to gardening to singing in a choir...but in the end these things are for their betterment as well! Rexi, the corgi and Puddy, the cat, along with the Gen Z chicks are other characters in Mabel's World. And just who is this mysterious new stranger? Mabel's World is for ages 5 to 95! Any chicken lover or pet lover will enjoy it!

I got the idea while watching my free ranging chickens one day. I am an artist as a hobby. I started drawing and Mabel was hatched!!

I use Illustrator, Indesign and a draw on a Pentablet. I do sell my books in 11 bookstores and online. I am over half way through the 2nd book, entitled Mabel's World, Living the Dream. As far as making money at this hobby...I haven't yet because of all the initial costs of printing, websites, and other materials.

I just LOVE doing it!

One of my hobbies is doing vinyl projects with my cricut. I always love the challenge of creating something new and the satisfaction of seeing it go from the computer screen to a t-shirt, a wall, or whatever else may need it. I work full time 8 months of the year but I do these projects whenever they're requested or when I get the idea since I can't get it out of my head until it's done! They tend to take up a lot of time to get just right but it's so rewarding.
