SPRING 2013 SEED/PLANT/GARDENING SWAP
LETS GET IN THE GARDENING SPIRIT!

SWAP ITEMS:
Seeds:
Please offer seeds at a minimum of 25 unless they are fruit tree seeds (if you're not sure just PM me before offering). These should be 2012-2013 seeds to be sure of viability. I know that a lot of seeds last longer than that, but we are sending them through the mail and who knows what happens to them between here and there, this is the best way to ensure viability.

CUTTINGS AND SEEDLINGS
Cuttings and started plants should be pest free and in good vigor when shipped. Cuttings should be either rooted or easy to root. Tree cuttings such as willows should be from a large enough cutting as to be viable. Use your discretion and please ask if you are not sure.

Seedlings should be big enough to survive shipping. Again, use your discretion but if you're not sure, feel free to ask.

PLANTS
PLEASE SHIP PLANTS THAT ARE PEST AND DISEASE FREE. PLANTS SHOULD BE IN GOOD VIGOR SO THAT THEY SURVIVE SHIPPING. IT IS YOUR CHOICE WHETHER TO SHIP BARE ROOT OR WITH THE ROOT BALL, BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT GOOD SHIPPING METHODS DON'T HESITATE TO ASK FOR ADVICE.

BULBS, RHIZOMES,ROOTS, CORMS
SEND AT LEAST THREE BULBS, RHIZOMES, ROOTS OR CORMS FROM COMMON VARIETIES SUCH AS YOUR BASIC TULIP OR A RED GLADIOLA.
FOR LARGER OR LESS COMMON SPECIES AND VARIETIES SUCH AS YOUR PRIZED HYBRID IRIS, LARGE AMARYLLIS BULB, A PEONY ETC. ONE SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT.

GARDENING SUPPLIES:
THESE CAN BE ANYTHING FROM SPRINKLER HEADS OR IRRIGATION HOSE TO KNEELING PADS, WORMS, TOOLS ETC. PLEASE STATE THE CONDITION OF THE ITEM ACCURATELY.

RULES:
YOU SHOULD BE A MEMBER OF BYC FOR AT LEAST 3 MONTHS OR HAVE 200 POSTS. ANYONE WHO DOES NOT SEND THEIR ITEM WITHIN THE STATED TIME FRAME WILL BE BARRED FROM SWAPPING UNTIL THEY COMPLETE THEIR SWAP.

PLEASE STATE IN YOUR POST WHEN YOU CAN SEND THE ITEM. IT IS OKAY TO WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE WEEK AND THEN SEND YOUR SWAPS ALL AT ONCE. THAT WAY, IF YOU HAVE SWAPPED WITH THE SAME PERSON TWICE THAT WEEK, YOU CAN SAVE ON SOME POSTAGE.

PLEASE STATE WHETHER SEEDS ARE COMMERCIALLY GROWN OR WHETHER THEY HAVE BEEN COLLECTED FROM PLANTS/VEGGIES THAT YOU GREW (HEIRLOOM). ALSO, IF YOUR SEEDS/VEGGIES ARE ORGANICALLY GROWN (GROWN WITHOUT PESTICIDES OR CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS), YOU SHOULD PROBABLY ADD THAT TOO.

PICTURES OF THE ITEM OR (IN THE CASE OF FLOWERS AND SEEDS) OF AN EXAMPLE OF THE ITEM SHOULD BE POSTED ON THE LISTING OR IN A SWAP OR MEMBER PAGE. IF YOU ARE SWAPPING A CUTTING AND YOU WANT TO POST A PICTURE OF WHAT THAT CUTTING WILL GROW UP TO BE, YOU MUST ALSO POST A PICTURE OF THE ACTUAL CUTTING. THIS IS NOT NECESSARY FOR SEEDS.

YOU ARE LIMITED TO THREE SWAPS A WEEK UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED 10 SWAPS (ON ANY SWAP THREAD). THEN SWAPS ARE UNLIMITED, BUT REMEMBER YOU MUST PAY SHIPPING FOR THE ITEMS YOU ARE SENDING. IF YOU ARE MAKING MANY SWAPS A WEEK THIS CAN BECOME EXPENSIVE.

I would ask that everyone, who can, copy and paste their swap page into their post. People on mobile devices cannot see them unless they are in the body of the post. If you have trouble doing this, you can create a Word document that features your available items and copy and paste the body of that document into your post so that you don't have to, repeatedly, write down the same offers over and over again.

DISCLAMER: BYC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SWAP. BYC is not responsible for items sent, received or not received. Please do not pm the mod about your item. PM me. If you do not receive your item, I can not make them send them but will make sure they do not play anymore. There is a risk with any swap that you may not receive your item promised, please keep that in mind while participating.

I have not been at BYC long enough to get in on this swap, but I can't wait! This swap is awesome :) I love gardening and I'm branching out and trying lots of new herbs this year(mostly for my ducks and chickens lol)

Actually i believe permaculture is where you have multiple levels to your property. Where you have fruit or nut trees also fruit bushes and vines, some under and growing up the trees, and perennial veggies along with herbs, veggies, and beneficial plants. They are all incorporated and make it more permanent and producing on different levels.

hi ya all .. i would like to swap an idea for another idea .. has any one concidered permaculture other wise known as  aquaponics .i personaly think its  great and a fun thing to try.

it can be done even in some ones house on a smaller scale .. and people often like fish along with raising plants ..so why not raise them to gether and reep the wonderful benefits of
raising things you never thought you could by means of aqua culture .. no im not interested in your money just what you think of this and your own ideas  other than this..

any way here are some neat sites to go to and learn//
