5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Well if someone had leghorns they might have eggs!
Not saying they won't lay this early, I have seen sex link hens lay as early as 4 and 1/2 months, and I think my dad had some California Whites that laid at about 4 to 4 1/2 months. So if yours are leghorns then they jsut might start early. My two pullets are still small I would not want them to start laying for a while yet, they really need to grow first.

Okay. Well my rooster is doing his job! Just cracked 3 eggs for breakfast and they were all fertile.

Just discovered my New Years rooster is doing his job as well. Cracked open an egg this morning and saw my first fertile egg

I'm going to start collecting a few to incubate.

That is a fast Generation!

One of my silkies laid their first egg yeterday! Got one yesterday and one today AND it was laid in the net box! How rare for us! Haha So stoked! 6 hens left to lay! Should be starting fairly soon!
