After the attack

1.5 years ago one of our Buckeye fended off an attack by a fox. It got a hold of her left leg and crushed it to the point of a mangled stump she uses to balance somewhat, but gets around pretty well.

She has lived in a dog kennel in the basement ever since, getting out in the farm/back yard on decent days for 4-6 hours at a time. Her sister (same hatch) gets along fine but our austalorps will pick on her so I can't leave her out with them.

My question is now that she has survived she deserves an elevated home I can move inside and outside and I am trying to decide what kind of floor to use so her foot doesn't get caught but can let droppings go through.

I think that rules out chicken wire and I'm looking for ideas to incorporate into her new house and would appreciate any input from similar circumstances.

Thanks,
Warren
