Thank you! Now that I uploaded some pictures I did a google image search. It's looking like a Japanese tobacco box from the early 1900's. Sure enough, it has a "made in japan" on the bottom that I had never noticed before.

I did not notice it either. I assumed it was Chinese because I could read the characters. But I read 2 of them wrong and only realized when I looked at the photo again.

Is there anyone with typewriters?
I know there's at least two boxes of old glass bottles around here that a family member dug up from on our last property.

I have one somewhere. We put it up once it became impossible to find ink ribbons for it.

I am surprised that they ask so little for it, as it is no longer in production. Time to grab a second one if you wish, before they realize that they could get more for it.

I have one (not a super old one). I was concerned it'd be hard to find ink ribbons, but I was actually able to find a company here that restores old typewriter and sells ink ribbons.

Thankfully most of the ribbons are universal, so even though I had no idea what I was supposed to get they worked.

My (now deceased) Grandma has two “regular” typewriters in her basement and I have a newer version.
