Are these really Black Copper Marans?

I ordered 2 black copper maran chicks from My Pet Chicken 5 weeks ago. However I noticed they are starting to grow crests?! I’m so confused. They do have light feathering on their legs. I also have 2 other 6 week old ones that I got from elsewhere. No crests and considerably more feathers on their legs than the crested ones.

Well, they look at least to be mostly BCM. But I have no clue why they are growing feather crests. Perhaps an accidental mix up in breeding?

I agree. The good news? Mypetchicken will refund you for the mixup. The bad news is you're out 2 chicks of your intended breed. Better luck next year/time!

True. I contacted them already. I’m honestly just happy they they are girls. Could be worse. Luckily I got 2 bcm chicks from elsewhere too.

Do you have an update on the egg color from these two? I have an olive egger pullet now who looks very similar to this, and I'm trying to guess if she could be a BCM x CCL mix.
