We have a lice problem. It is 10.30pm and I can't get into town until next week. I ran out of Pestene yesterday. I have this spray for ornamental birds, and it does say "Not for birds intended for human consumption" but our chooks are layers, not meat birds.

Should I use it, or just wait until I can get more Pestene or similar?

Due to the regulations those companies are held to, if it doesn't say you shouldn't eat the eggs, I think eating the eggs would be fine.
They try to protect themselves against every lawsuit possible.
Also, considering this is an external parasite and external treatment, they probably give that warning because traces of the spray could be on the skin. That shouldn't effect eggs.

It contains pyrethrins which come from plants, and the label states that it has low toxicity for use in ornamental birds, so I would use it. It may be that you would need to wait a bit of time before eating the eggs, but I can't find any information about it. Many people use permethrin without using an egg withdrawal time.

Thank you
