How many are closing their flicks here in Arkansas to outside birds?

There are many talking about it but I'm still undecided. There doesn't seem to be much of it in this state.

I'm thinking about it but still also thinking I may need to get some more pullets in here for egg production this coming spring.

Tell me what the rest of you think.

With it not really hitting much here in Arkansas, I think it may be ok to get some outside birds. But I would keep them separate for several days to make sure they don't have anything.

I know what you mean on keeping them separate, but with this it is airborne so even being on the same property that close they still can get it.

Like you I'm undecided. I wouldn't buy out of state birds anyway.. But hatching eggs? I think if they have a closed flock and it hasn't hit their area I would still be willing to purchase/trade eggs.
They wouldn't be introduced to any of my birds for months anyway.

I keep a closed flock anyway so I won’t be changing anything but your operations are a lot different than mine. My concern is wild birds spreading it but you do have to think about other ways. It’s a hard decision.

Eat them when they are large enough to make a good chicken dinner
