I have been reading the threads on automatic chicken coop doors and still a bit confused. Need something relatively easy to install, suitable for Virginia winters, has a sensor so my chickens won't be crushed, easy to program (don't need wifi), and will be used within a coop in what we hope is a predator resistant 15' run. (wire cloth sides and roof) Would like to keep it around $200. Suggestions?

I use a ChickenGuard
It has a daylight sensor, but I prefer to use the set times. It uses batteries.
However, it's for upward sliding doors, but you could attach it to the side of the coop and attach the string to the door so it's pulled open when the string pulls it.

Looks like chicken guard is popular. Thanks.
If you go with a Chicken Guard make sure to read the install instructions to check if there's enough clearance above the door opening to set it up on your unit. It can be placed elsewhere using pullies but that's more work than I'd want to put in.
