Thanks, chickencrazy! I'll be dusting for the mites and see what happens, then maybe make some of those chicken saddles to protect from Mr. Roo. (If I can get them on the chickens!)

and yes I think getting the chicken saddles would be a brilliant idea so it would give the hen time to grow its feathers back and to stop her from itching and the rooster getting them
