Barred Rock thread!!

This brown egg is from a large healthy year old barred rock hen, the white egg is the medium size that we get from our older blue andalusion. Egg is very small, that is why we are not happy with the BR.

Our Barred Rocks lay large eggs, and they are lovely birds. We recently got a new line, from show quality stock, and the teenagers look very good, they are 22 weeks on the pictures.

We thought they were going to lay large eggs but they never have. They lay 4-6 eggs a week but we cannot sell them, they are too small. Just glad I only bought 2 of them!

I have a bpr hen, actually I used to have 4 hens and a rooster, but three of the hens and my rooster were attacked by a fox

. I will post a pic of my only remaining hen in the morning.
