my plymouth barred rock hen just finished molting and her crown and cheeks look faded. What would cause this?

my plymouth barred rock hen just finished molting and her crown and cheeks look faded. What would cause this?

A hen not currently in production (ie while molting) will lose color and condition of the comb, wattles, face, etc. As her hormones return to production levels the faded parts will color up and fill back in regaining their usual condition.
