Hatchery stock usually begins laying at 20-24 weeks. Our standard bred, heritage Barred Rocks take almost 35 weeks.

Thank you Fred for having standard bred rocks. Great birds and wonderful free-ranging additions to the farm. I'm trying to weed out the needy non-standards from my flock. These are a wonderful bird that need preserving.

I agree I got my from a breeder but on accident it decided that she didn't like the other BR's and flew into the silkie coop and we took her and with such ease she was happy as can be to be in my son's arms for the first time as we carried her to front to get a carrier and take her home. Such a nice breed she is all about the people though birds are birds to her people are awesome in her eyes.
