I bred a blue copper Marans to a black copper Marans hen, but also unfortunately to a 50/50 legbar/blue copper Marans hen, so some of the offspring are not pure, but greatly resemble a Marans. I have narrowed down two of the little blue cockerels, one of which I'd like to keep. I want to choose as close to breed standard as possible, but am having a hard time finding a definitive guide. The closest thing I found was this: https://www.thehappychickencoop.com...xt=It is classified as a,and face are all red.

The main thing I gleaned from that is, the black copper Marans cockerels that I had decided against keeping have heavily feathered feet, which isn't a good breed standard, but I wasn't going to keep them anyways! The other issue was, I can't find a lot of info on the BLUE Marans.

Join the Marans Club! They also have a FB group where people post pics and ask for critiques, but the club is the place to start for information if you want to breed correct Marans. You can get the SOP (Standard of Perfection) from the APA (American Poultry Association) but I think you have to buy it...but it comes with the inexpensive membership, and you also get an egg color card.
