hey all!!

i’m trying to get into breeding some belgian bantams however i’m not sure about which colours to pair with which. google isn’t giving me a very good answer!

i have milifluer, lavander and black belgians

can i keep them all in the same pen like you can with some breeds??

I would keep the Mille Fleur separate. Genetically, they are quite different than the other two.

If you cross lavenders and blacks, you will get birds that look black, but they will carry the gene for lavender. That's fine if you want lots of black birds. Breeding those mixes back to lavender will produce some lavender chicks and some black chicks.

Breeding lavender to lavender is the easiest way to get lavender chicks.

Having a lavender rooster with lavender hens and black hens would give you some chicks of each color (pure lavender, and crosses that look black.) That would be a way to keep both colors in one pen, and get chicks of both colors.
