Best plants to grow in/around chicken run? (Missouri)

Hi everyone!
I'm thinking I might try to grow some plants around my chicken run this spring, and I've done a bit of research and found marigolds and lemongrass, are there any you guys would recommend?

If you can make a very sturdy barrier on the outside boundary, planting mint would be great. The chickens are unlikely to be able to kill it if there's even a little bit they can't reach, and I've read that rats don't like the smell (not that it'll keep them away from that delicious chicken food)

They'll eat, kill and destroy everything, QUICKLY, I wouldn't bother.
