I’m pretty certain one of our two Black Australorps is a rooster. Unfortunately, I’m in city limits and unable to keep a rooster. I’m a first time chicken owner. So before rehoming, I REALLY need absolute confirmation! Can you all please help me confirm if our Spinney is a rooster? I’ve attached pictures of 9 week old Spinney and his 9 week old sister (Black Australorp), Pepper. Some noticeable differences.

Also, assuming Spinney is a rooster if anyone is in the Seattle area and is interested (I’m about 25 mins northeast of Seattle), please let me know. I just want to find a good and happy home for him!

Thank you!

Hello!

Yes, unfortunately he looks to be a cockerel. I wish the city allowed people to keep them. Before I moved onto a larger property I had a small flock of chickens, but my rooster gave us away, so we had to get rid of them. So sorry, it’s a bummer, but I guess you should follow the rules and regulations.

Such a bummer, but thank you for the confirmation! I think I just needed this nudge to figure out the next steps with rehoming him. Thanks so much for your help!
