I have seen at least 2 others post in the last year and a half with identical chicks and I have never seen anyone get a for sure answer. I would love to see someone get an answer. I know one of the two the chick was fine, I can't remember the other or who the members were -maybe you? It is wierd.I've seen this before, in my newly hatched Silkies (another dark skinned breed). I have no idea what it is either, but I can say that I didn't separate those chicks (3 all from different hatches). They took a little longer to fluff up and dry out then the others, and one of them hung onto those little "black balls" until it started growing real feathers, but they're just fine these days (and look completely normal).
If the breeder has an explanation, I'd be interested in hearing it!
