There are coppers in black, blue and splash also abbreviated as BBS. There are also solid BBS, but are not common at all. Whites, cuckoos (also come in Silver and Gold), wheatens, BBS birchens, columbians, black tailed buff and Salmons are some of the more commonly known varieties, but some are much more common than others. Several other project colors are also floating around, but out of them all, here in the States the only APA recognized colors are Black coppers and Wheatens. What all colors are there in Marans? I know Blue, Black and Splash but what else is there?

yes, most of us on the different marans thread do, which makes them a good place for learning about the breed.O
Oh okay cool! Thanks for the info! Do you raise Marans?
What area of Washington are you in?
Later this summer I should have some chicks or started birds.I am an hour north of Portland.
I'm up in Snohomish, so you must be about an hour and a half south or so of me , I would LOVE to get my hands on some started birds, since it takes forever from hatch to laying I can get a jump on it lol...put me on the list pretty please!
would someone mind explaining the white markings?Well Vicki, those Blue Copper chicks that are just over month old are growing like WEEDS! Literally!
I might have 4 cockerels unless the one that I am questioning is just a VERY LARGE pullet, but the comb and wattle area are not like the other 3 males, which are big and red now at this point. Time will tell.
In the next couple of weeks I will get more photos of them. The ones that you had me mark are now looking near identical to the others with very little difference except I can still see a very small amount of white above the marked ones eyes. Good thing they are banded.
