This chick hatched Valentine's Day, 2/14/2023, so it's not quite 4 weeks old.
Not quite sure if it hatched from a RIR or Red Sex Link egg.
At the time the eggs were incubated, there were two roosters on the farm. One was a RIR and the other was a Blue Plymouth Rock. The Blue Plymouth Rock was young, approximately 4-5 months old and was only there for approximately one month.
Best guess to the breed and gender of this chick?
If more pics are needed, please let me know what would be the best angle.

Probably RIR. If you look up pictures of Blue Plymouth Rocks the chicks are gray. It's a little soon to tell gender but I'm leaning towards male
I was so afraid this one was going to be a cockerel. I sure hope not. How perfect is that that my two favorite chicks both turn out to be cockerels. Maybe I should hold off naming them until they are grown. LOL

I have a Silkie that was supposed to be a hen but you just can't tell with Silkies. "She" started crowing a few days ago, so now I need a new name.😅

Oh no! That's disappointing and I'm sure shocking. This is my first set of chicks, so I'm sure I'm going to be disappointed if this one and Black Betty (who we think is not longer a Betty) turns out to be cockerels.

The way it turned out was probably better. I breed show millie fleur d'uccles. Last summer I was offered a Silkie rooster and didn't think before I said yes. Then I bought what I supposed was a hen but turned out to be a rooster. But I just don't have the space to keep two separate flocks from mixing and I end up with mutt birds. A millie fleur Silkie would be something I haven't seen before though.

The chick has some white feathers in its wings, and will have some white feathers in the tail when it grows up. It has at least one parent with those traits. From your list, that should be a Red Sexlink mother.

Either rooster could have been the father.

I think it looks male because of the comb & wattles, but I would let it grow some more to be sure.

I have never heard of the Millie Fleur D’Uccles. But I understand not having the room to separate. I was going to get one breed but I wanted different colors and personalities so I went backyard. But it's still interesting to find out genetics and a little confusing to understand it. 😆

I'm crossing my fingers, toes, and eyes for a pulley here! ☺😆

This is one of my show Millie Fleur D’Uccles hens.

Then if you cross her with a black Silkie, the chicks would be interesting.
