Breed crossing thought🤔

To further explain the comments above here's some info on the colours you have :)

The grey colour of the sapphire blue hen is a colour that we call "Blue". Blue is a gene that dilutes black and has "cumulative" properties as follows:

A bird with NO blue genes - any black parts remain black
A bird with ONE blue gene - any black parts are diluted to blue
A bird with TWO blue genes - any black parts are doubly diluted to splash

The lavender colour of your rooster is of course a result of the "lavender" gene, sometimes called "self blue". Lavender is a recessive gene and works as follows:

A bird with NO lavender gene - any black parts remain black
A bird with ONE lavender gene - any black parts remain black (the bird is "split" to lavender - the one gene is carried "unseen" but can still be passed on to offspring)
A bird with TWO lavender genes - any black parts are diluted to lavender

Even though the two colours can look quite similar - there are differences that become easier to distinguish with practice.

Blue birds usually have variable shading to their colour, and it is not uncommon to see a faint lacing of darker blue on the feather edges. Blue can also vary greatly from pale to very very dark. It is not uncommon to get blue birds that are so dark - they are mistaken for black!

Lavender birds are usually a very consistent shading of light grey. You can sometimes see lighter colours present, blonde/straw/gold which is a "leakage" of other underlying colours (leakage is more often seen in roosters - on the hackles, wings, saddles).

Despite the visual similarities - It is important to note that they are two very distinct and different colours - from a genetic point of view- so would require a confident ability to keep track of your birds genetic inheritance and possibilities to accurately predict future chick outcomes :)

Has anyone crossed sapphire gems with ayam cemanis I have both an wanted to try and see what I get but was curious if anyone before has done this and how they came out???
