Ok...I am relatively new to breeding calls - I have breed white and East Indies for a couple years, but have acquired butterscotch breeding pairs last year. This year they are hatching, but the colors of the ducklings are all over the place. One of the people that purchased a few ducklings from me have said that a breeder told them that the ducklings are chocolate. I am trying to research the genes of the butterscotch - as I don't believe they are happy with the outcome. Can someone out there give me some advice on this?

If the calls were related, they may have had a recessive gene that came through when they were bred together.

I am not sure if they are related...but from what you are saying - they can have the chocolate recessive genes then? I am new to this color...so not sure what colors were crossed together to get the butterscotch.
