I’ve got a year old hen with a really bad case of bramble foot. We’ve already removed the scab and all the yellow gunk we could but it’s still hot/warm and I think she needs a course of antibiotics. This is the second time she has had this in three months. Each time I’ve soaked the foot in epsom salt, removed scab and yellow plug, wrapped with gauze and Neosporin. I soak her foot and change bandage daily. Last time I didn’t use antibiotics and wonder if I missed some of the staph and now it’s returned with a vengeance! Any recommendations on type of antibiotic and amount? She is a white production hen and weighs about five pounds.
Appreciate your help!

Without a doubt she needs antibiotics. Speaking from experience. Go to allbirdproducts.com and get Baytril 2.5%. It comes with a syringe for oral injections. Can be bought without a prescription. It is effective against gram-positive bacterial infections, which encompasses Bumblefoot. I’d do a 10 day course at least.

I called a local farm store and got her on some amoxicillin. It’s powdered and I was told to sprinkle it on a wet bit of bread and do this twice a day for five day. Thank you for your reply.

In the pics it looks like you have two 'bumbles' both with scabs as if they haven't been treated. Did you do anything to them before you bandaged them again? I don't have any bumblefoot experience myself (but read a lot on here!) and it looks to me like you need to do the surgery again and remove these new scabs and all the pus before bandaging. Good luck!
