Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

I follow your posts regularly. The latest one on egg eaters has been very helpful. I have 19 hens and 4 roosters one of which will be dinner soon. I also have 2 hens that are brooding. One hen is brooding in the favorite nesting box so she is chased off every time someone else wants to lay. LOL 🐓

Our chickens survived us until we ate them. We got lots of eggs in the mean time and shared them with the neighbors who were delighted.

For anyone freaking about broad breasted white turkeys and gmo (because it's almost impossible to find organic feed)... You can really feed them whatever you have on hand and they will be fine until you process them. We did oats, peas, sunflower seeds, flax, worms, and wheat berries and they fattened up perfectly. No harm, tasty fowl. Haha.

Everyone survived just fine before the bioengineered crap they want you to feed your food. It's okay to feed farm fresh and kind of make things up. Give yourself permission to try things out.

All 7 ladies are back to laying after a winter break. I took the plastic off the run last week end (Minne-snow-ta) and they are loving more mama chicken lady lap time!

Mimi the goose has turned out to be Marvin, but protects the flock just the same! 25 ladies and 2 roos free roam any day it's not storming here in Ohio. Hoping to add a few young ladies this spring, but still deciding if I want the extra work of chicks this year. Any suggestions of cool new breeds? I'm always up for trying something new!

We are doing okey. This is a old picture. One of the Leghorns died during a hurricane but everyone else is fine. She went to come down off the roast and a big gust of wind slammed her into the shed and broke her neck. The one that looks like a Gold Campine died of old age. I had her for about 12 years.

I've been busy working part-time out of town. I do read alot of the posts, just don't comment. I still have my 6 hens that I just adore! My son built them a Chick-nic table & we've had alot of fun with that! Thanks for reaching out!

Life has indeed been crazy! Our guinea fowl have recently started laying their eggs again, and I really hope I'll have time to hatch a few more this year 🤭. Chickens are as crazy as ever, and our beautiful rooster has grown up to be protective of the flock ( sometimes a little too protective 🥴😆)
