Chick ID? Easter eggers and more ?

So from previous posts I’ve come to realize TSC isn’t the most reliable for gendering and breeding right, but as the chicks are getting older I bought what I thought were 7 Easter egger pullets and I’m thinking there’s some mix ins for breeds which is fine it’s just interesting to watch them grow! I knew Easter eggers were crosses not a breed necessarily but I think I’ve ended up with a barred rock, golden lace Wyandotte and legbar (possible cross)! Thoughts?

Any feed store, TSC, Rural King, Orscheln, or any other is only as good as the individual employees and their willingness to follow procedures and protocols. Some employees are more knowledgeable than others. Some of the individual stores are pretty good but it is not unusual to run into problems at any of them. It can be disappointing, and that covers everything, not just chicks.

Do you know which hatchery those chicks came from? TSC typically uses three different hatcheries, Hoover, Towline, and I can't remember the third. And what were they called? Most hatcheries won't say EE's. You might be able to look at their online ad and get some idea of what they might look like. But probably not, there are no set colors. They don't always have pea combs or slate colored legs either. There are no standards to go by. Doesn't make it easy.

I'm not going to make any guesses as to breed or whether those really are EE's or not. I don't have any confidence in my ability plus many hatcheries are making their own mixes and giving them strange marketing names. Chickens are trending right now and they are going to cash in. I don't blame them.

It looks like a barred rock & GLW. The grey one appears to have greenish legs, in which case I would guess some kind of Egger. The brown/yellow one has peach legs, which most EE don’t have. What kind of comb does that one have?

Funny thing about Hoovers is they sometimes make olive eggers with legbars so they may not have green eggs or pea combs. I think you’re definitely right on the first two, though!

I haven’t noticed a comb on that one yet! The barred rock and another which I’m pretty sure is an Easter egger or americauna have very clear combs what look like single combs though!
