Hybrids are a fascinating subject. It's amazing how, in some cases, you can cross two different breeds and produce offspring that are hardier, have superior temperament, and are better layers than their parents (even sex linked in some cases). I have crossed a number of breeds over the years (some intentionally and some accidentally), but the most interesting crosses were the Black Sex Links I bred by crossing Rhode Island Red roosters with Barred Rock hens (this is one of those cases where the temperament and laying ability is superior to the parent stock).
