Chicken killed in coop last night

My guess would be raccoon. They can stick their little hands through the chicken wire that you have up above and grab a chickens head. They many times just eat the head and crop. Yes, they will be back for more. Also, make sure there isn't any chicken feed or water left out to tempt them. 1/4" or 1/2" hardware cloth would be best. I'm sorry for your loss.

I have come to the conclusion that it was a raccoon and he was able to grab the chicken and take off its head. The chicken may have been roosting to close to the edge of the run. I have not had any incidents since the night.
