This is our 1st winter season with our chicks.Does their metabalism slow down? The reason being is that our young ladies seem to be eating less every since the snow storm and cold snap that has occurred here in the mid-atlantic over the weekend.

Mine have always eaten more as the weather cooled. Right now, they are really hitting the wheat+oats+corn scratch mix I put out every afternoon. I picked up 100 lbs of storage cabbage for winter use, since everything except the kale and brussels sprouts has been frozen.

I give mine more in the colder weather than normal. Mine free range during the warmer months. I also be sure they get some scratch to keep some fat on their bodies for winter.

Our girls seem to be eating the same so far, but OH my gosh, they hate the snow!!!!! We're in Eastern WV & we got about 10" of snow. Yesterday, they basically stayed in the house even though they have a nice covered pen. They did venture out a little bit today.
