It's strange, but the combs/wattles on my Cornish hens are almost non existent. The Cornish roosters however had bigger combs than the Buckeye roosters.

The more wedge shaped those pea combs get the more I hate them. I like seeing a nice, tight comb on my peas.

MCM you would have liked the comb on my cornish rooster- too bad his heart was bad :-(
I culled a much better rooster for his horrid telescoping comb, I was afraid I'd be culling chicks endlessly for that. Next time my selected cockerels are getting a good gallop around the barnyard before I cull.

Pay no attention to the color of his feathers and feet....optical illusion caused by the camera flash. Show quality? Absolutely..NOT but he is just what the DR. ordered for my miserable hatchery gals.

Here's one of 'em. Ok...make that two. They were just under 4 months of age when this was taken.

The flash of the cam. makes his feather and leg color distorted. His legs are yellow and the feather color is correct, but not SQ by any stab and that's fine because I'm not breeding DCs for SOP...only the White Chanteclers and White NNs.
