Cuckoo Maran with a large Spur

Hello there,
My 4 yr old cuckoo Maran has a large spur that grows backwards & has now reached her leg. I’m afraid that it will continue to grow & pierce her leg! Can it be cut off?
Her sister had one growing normally & it partially fell off.

Spurs can be removed which can cause some discomfort and bleeding. It is also possible to trim the end with dog nail clippers or file the points down.

Hello...I wanted to let you know that we managed to trim our cuckoo maran spur, it was just beginning to cut into her leg. We trimmed it back slowly & will keep it short now we know it’s rather like there nails & can be trimmed.
