Dark Egg Breeds Thread

i am wating for next spring so my penedesenca's to lay. I have to grow my flock. gahh lay you birds lay!!!

Pene people -

I've heard that Penedesenca's are flighty and not very social (with people). How are the personalities of your birds? Do they do OK with kids?

I absolutely love the look of the crele birds, but like a calm chicken.

Pretty much !

You breed & only hatch the ones from the darkest eggs.

if you like the creole color I would suggest golden cuckoo marans.

Marans have a friendlier personality, I use to be able to go outside, & pick up my old marans hens & roosters.

Penedesencas are more skiddish & run the other direction, unless I have food or snacks for them

Here is the Labor day harvest from last year. I have grapes, blackberries and of course dark brown eggs

October and November will be the pomegranate harvest time

OMG YOU GROW POMEGRANATES ! Ive always wanted one, are they easy trees? New England Winters would probably kill them
