Dark Egg Breeds Thread

I have not done it yet, but I think I may start. I would use tiamulin (Denegard), if I do.

Kathy, is Denagard supposed to kill these germs also ? I suppose you could as the tylan powder has been used to dip eggs. I know people that have used both Oxine and Tektrol and they are disenfectants. Don

Alot of egg dips are antibiotics. Denegard is far superior to tylan. Google tiamulin and you can find good research articles.

Kathy, thanks, I have used several bottles of Denagard and am not convinced that it does what everyone says it will. Have you found a dosage giving it to chickens. Don

I don't dip eggs at all...I will not ship dirty ones, and I will not hatch dirty ones. Is the dipping supposed to kill off diseases prior to incubation? Gosh, I've incubated & hatched eggs for years, and have never dipped mine or ones I've received...is this a new thing?

I have received eggs that had a broken one in the box and got all over the eggs so I washed them with TekTrol and got a few to hatch and not everyone ships eggs like you so I've cleaned dirty ones and had a hatch too using TekTrol cuts down on the smell in the incubator and big hatcheries fumigate their eggs. Oh the JG pullet is very beautiful I need to take a picture blue with the dark edging and she looks like a full grown regular chicken right now how old are they at lay?
