Hello All! Ducks are new to us so we'd like your advice. One of our Cayuga hens recently hatched a beautiful clutch of ducklings however each morning when we go out to feed and visit with them, we notice more and more of the newborns missing. Perhaps neighborhood magpies are eating them? Perhaps one of the mature ducks is killing them? We noticed the Drake acting quite violent to the babies this morning when they got in his way. Anyway, our main question is: Can we just bring the remaining ducks into the house and care for them here until they are a bit older and can more easily fend for themselves or, will this be too traumatic to the mother duck?

Have you separated the new mother duck and her ducklings from the rest? That will likely solve the problem or let you know if it is Mom bothering ducks.
Do you find their bodies?
Are they closed up at night?
