do silkies hatch slightly earlier??

Hi all, I have some gold bearded silkie eggs in my incubator, we have 13 days left! I usually hatch out larger breeds like brahmas, orps so its my first time hatching smaller chicks. I have read a few times on different web sites that silkies like some other smaller breeds can hatch early. Is this true? Does anyone have experiences? Thanks in advance

Definately true. Be ready anywhere from day 18. I put silkie eggs in with my large fowl breeds last season and at day 18 all of the silkies hatched.

Wow! Ok so do I need to stop turning earlier? Or just stick to the normal routine at day 18? How eggciting!

At day 18 you should be at " lockdown ", so the egg turning should have ceased.

But do you lockdown earlier if they hatch earlier, go into lockdown at day 15 instead or just stick to day 18 lockdown?

I had several other breeds of eggs in with them, so I had no choice but to continue turning until day 18. It didn't affect the hatch, with 100% hatch rate for the silkies.

That makes me really happy to hear! I put silkie eggs in late Saturday so maybe they will hatch a few days early!

Sooo excited now, although im only left with 3 out of the 12 eggs that are alive! 8 days left if they decide to make it and come early!!!

I have 8 eggs that were shipped so I would be happy to have any hatch! Can't wait to see the little ones.
