Doing it wrong (so you don't have to)

Pretty awesome thread. My first incubation is at day 19. I'm terrified. Following your thread is making me breathe a little easier. I've turned neurotic trying to do everything perfectly. I don't think it's possible. Hoping for 1/15. Aiming low. Thanks for doing this.

I guess today is day 17. Lockdown tomorrow.

We are suddenly getting a warm weather system in the area. This could totally play havoc with everything. Or not. I'm curious how this plays out. They are expecting outdoor generators near 70°F a re days, so this room will really fluctuate.

Today's ambient temperature recording : 58-78°F.

@JillZ,
I'm sure you are doing fine. It is always stressful. My normal routine isn't really a lot different than what I'm doing here, excel put my normal incubator has a much better temperature control system, I monitor humidity and keep it in a more controlled environment (the basement). I also normally use a educated hatcher without a fan.

That is one of my big concerns here, the fan. I can't turn it off.

I have used this incubator twice before. Once I just threw some excess quail eggs in since I had nowhere else to put them and got a 50% hatch. Last year someone borrowed it so their kids could watch eggs hatch. It wasn't monitored and the temperature was never checked. It was left at factory default which appears to be wrong by -2°C. They still got 2/24.

It's amazing what can happen.

So glad to find this thread! I too have been using this same incubator. I've had good hatch rates, although last time had some shrink wrapped eggs. I had trouble keeping humidity high after day 18. I had plenty of water in the bottom, but it's super dry here right now. I'll be adding some sponges for extra wicking.
