Droopy winged peachic

Sadly she died during that night. I've since taken one of her nest-mates to the vet. She had nematodes (he treated with Stronid T) and likely a bacterial infection so he put her on Baytril inj. twice daily. We started this treatment regimen yesterday morning, but she seems really no better today. She is however eating and drinking so maybe I'm just expecting too much too soon.
Sorry you lost her... Call back and ask for metronidazole. The combo of the two will cover most bacterial and protozoal infections.

If the nematode the vet found was a cecal worm, I strongly suggest that you call him back and insist on treating with metronidazole and that you de-worm with Safeguard (fenbendazole) instead. How many more days of Baytril do you have to give?

  • Safeguard (fenbendazole) dose for cecal worms is 50mg/kg once by mouth and repeat in ten days.
  • Metronidazole dose for histomoniasis is no less than 30mg/kg once a day for five days. Lately I use 50mg/kg twice a day for five days.

Please post a picture of her poop.

Also a good idea to get a scale and start weighing her every morning.
