I have a cam in my duck house too. I used Arlo, a battery operated camera because the house is floating in the lake. Wires wouldn't be practical.
This way I can tell how many eggs there are without getting in the boat. Love it!

Yes, it is a streaming camera. Basically its a baby monitor that is connected to WIFI. We did have to purchase a WIFI extender to have a strong enough signal reach the coop, but overall this wasn't too difficult of a setup. We'll eventually bury an electric line for the power to the camera but in the meantime, we just have use an extension cord from the house to the coop.

I've had rubber foam pads in mind just like the ones in your pen. How well do they hold up to the urine and poo? I've been told it would eat into the pads.

They have held up reasonably well. They get discolored on the black side quickly but overall we've only replaced a few due to mice chewing on them.
