Duckling swollen under bill.

Has anyone dealt with this before? It looks like abscess, I’m tempted to aspirate with an 18g needle.

Yes, nothing abnormal. I aspirated and removed about 20cc of slightly cloudy, bloody serum. It needs a facelift now

I’m aspirating the bulge twice a day. There is less fluid each time. Now there is a definite lump at the bill joint on one side. I started Tylan injection, as that’s what I have on hand. She’s not eating much, but there is a little poop each day.

Drain is without suction, I aspirated (suction) with a syringe, so I could measure each day and clearly see the fluid. A hard lump is now visible at the right bill joint/hinge. Not sure what that’s called on a duck. I started Tylan injections because that’s what I have on hand. No other ducks are showing signs of swelling, which is a huge relief.

Could you find a wound or bite in the area? May try some feed made soupy with warm water.

I haven’t found an external injury. She’s eating now. I’ll continue antibiotics 2x day
There was only about 7 cc of fluid this morning when I aspirated the bulge, so that part is better.
