4 weeks is usually too soon to tell for sure. Basically, all chicks looks female until hormones kick in and males start developing some male characteristics, usually by about 8 weeks, give or take. This chick is not showing any obvious signs yet.

He is 100% cockerel.

I was wondering if these 2 chickens are hens.

They are both pullets.

It's too soon to tell. White EEs can be tricky to sex. Update us in a few weeks.

Here is an updated picture on our "muffin" girl... we hope! Still unsure if she really is a she.. She is 9 weeks tomorrow.

You seem to have a knack for picking hard to sex birds. I remember all the debate over your Wester a few years back.
I think it's safe to say that this bird is definitely a pullet. I was unsure at first, but as she feathered out she started looking more and more female.

I know! I also seem to be the first to get them and then other matching weird looking birds get posted haha. I finally settled into her for sure being a female yesterday. All her pin feathers are done and she is still a she Uneven red, black throat and all. Btw, Wester is is my problem chicken, still trying to kill the teenagers.

This is our other questionable girl.. her name is Penny and she is also 9 weeks today. Tale feathers are pointy, color I thought was indicative of a girl, comb makes me go !

We are hoping we don't have many EE Roos. We only have 4 of them

Sorry for all the questions! The EE breed is definitely confounding my brain lately, ha!

If the tail feathers of an older Easter Egger chick 9+ weeks old are decicively rounded is that a sure indicator of pullet/hen?
