It really depends where the brooder is and what the temps are in the room.Question - how long will the chicks need the ecoglow? I have one (and LOVE IT) and my little ones are 3 weeks old. They barely seem to go under it at all. Wondering how long they will need access to it?
If you think you need the heat in your coop, I would use it,, I would have no problem with the safety factor using this in my coop .
You can raise it up so it sits higher for the bigger babies to go under it, tho mine are right now 6 weeks old, a few of them could fit under it laying down, not sure they would fit if they were 4/5 months old tho
That's the amazing thing that I've found about the EcoGlow, they are quite through using it very early on, certainly much earlier than "The Formula" would suggest. I just leave it plugged in for as long as I notice they sleep under it. It uses a negligable amount of energy and if they like the security of it vs. needing the warmth of it, that's good enough for me.
