egg in strange place.

i am new to raising chickens so this may be a dumb question but, today i was riding my grand daughter on the 4 wheeler and i found a white chicken egg. i have 7 hens they do not free range because we have a lot of coyote in the area.the only other person in the area that has chickens is about a mile away from me through the woods. his do free range.the egg was in a food plot of mine that is about 1/2 mile from his home. will a chicken go that far from her coop to eat. i thought that was pretty far away myself.what you think.

Doubt she would go that far. Could it have been a turkey egg? I've seen some wild turkey eggs here that resemble chicken eggs.
