We have 4wk old chicks, & being newbes,Do we have to candle eggs, When they start to lay? We don't have a rooster. Also, can eggs be used right away or do you have to wait awhile.DO we wash them?

You do not have to candle eggs unless you are incubating them. Since you do not have a rooster, you will not be able to hatch anything. You can eat them right out of the nest. I would wash them. It depends on what kind of chickens you have as to when they will start laying eggs. My guess would be about 19 weeks. Good luck and
