eye injury - unsure on how to continue. eye looks like a complete loss

Poor fellow. Hopefully cleaning the eye with the saline and using the ointment will help to keep infection down. Make sure that he can find his food and water, and protect him from getting pecked.

here’s how everything looks today both pre - post rinse and reapplying ointment. the only plus i can mention right now is it looks like the swelling is down some.

Tater Tot is a 1yr old BBRed OEGB

It’s been 3 days since i first noticed his eye was shut and the swelling. I think he got into a fight as that side of his face was a little bloody. It has progressively gotten worse but he has started to opened his eye. There’s pus and a clear, gel-type discharge. I have saline solution that I had been rinsing it out with daily but I don’t no what to do nor do I have any triple antibiotic ointment that can go in the eye. His eye looks beyond saving. I don’t know what to do beyond going to a vet or trying to remove it myself????

Put an antiseptic salve on it with Vaseline for 3 days

It looks like some of the goop in the eye is starting to look like yellow pus. You may want to sue saline eye wash, Qtips or tissues, and try to get that off. Then continue with either Terramycin or plain Neosporin ointment twice a day.
