First Egg Today.......

I have 10 pullets, after work cleaned coop, noticed the nest boxes had been burrowed into, golf balls thrown out. I figured, finally, one of them is getting ready to lay that elusive first egg.

went into the run. viola, there it was , one tiny brown egg in the dirt. she missed the box by a bit.....but a first egg.

Grrreat!! Congratulations! My girls are 15 months old. I can't hardly wait for the first egg.

I must admit I'm a little jealous. My buffs are 28 weeks and still no eggs.

If your hens are that age and still not laying, you might try calf manna -- there's a thread on it here I've seen a dramatic increase in egg production in just a few days, and had at least 3 "new" layers of various ages begin to lay.

got second perfect egg tonite. went in to lock them up, she was in her nest box laying it. It's my SLW, this egg was clean and perfect. and in the right location, the nest box.
she has given me my first two eggs in two days. what a gal.

here the two are beside a store bought large white egg, not best angle, as the eggs look almost same size, they aren't. they are a bit smaller.
but perfect.

got 3 eggs in 4 days from my SLW, she's a rockstar, not bad for her being a newbie at this.
