First flock, first egg laying behaviors.

Please let us know what happens the next day. I just got my first 2 days ago and she did the same as yours in the outer run. Today was the same. She must have laid very early. I have an auto door that opens on sunrise. I went out about 8 and it was in the same place again. Hope she starts laying in the nests. Id love to know what yours does.
Since I posted this, the next few days she laid in a corner. I put her nesting box in that same corner and now she lays nowhere else. I have an additional 3 laying now. I got the large one today. They have the most beautiful glossy shells.

They are beautiful eggs. Great you have a couple more laying. I've been buying my eggs from a local hardware store where people that raise chickens take their excess eggs. I will do the same when that time comes. I'm hoping I won't have to buy any more very soon. Amazing you got such a big egg there for a newbie layer. That's lovely. I love you antique egg holder on your counter! I love antiques.

It looks like an antique but it isn't. I got it from Amazon 7 years ago.

Is this the kind of “squatting” behavior that hens do prior to laying their first egg? This hen was sold to me as an EE and now she is about 22 weeks old…
