Welcome to BYC and the FL state thread!

This guy looks more like a GFF lines rather than the Jill Rees lines but his tail carry and type and comb are devine if it is GFF. Nice roo. I am not an expert by any means. I have Jill Rees roos and they are much creamier with very little red bleed in the saddle areas. BUT, combs are crooked as heck! wonky, I call them. LOL

not sure of the line. My daughter gave me three chicks for Christmas. She bought them from west Palm beach pet store. They are the parents of said roos. (Pictures of parents)
This little girl is very nicely colored. She also looks more like a GFF lines than the Jill Reese. I, yep, yet again, have a Jill Rees girlie who has a full crest although to the point of not being able to see where she is going. I trim her feathers away from her face especially her eyes. Her feathers around her eyes look like they are rooted in her eyeballs they are so close. Her sisters though, sold to someone else, have nice full crests but not as full or disabling as my girl's.

I also have GFF girls, 2 of them, and one looks like yours with more of a comb than crest and yet the other one barely has either.

All in all, I am guessing that the cockerels you have are from the original GFF lines. Most people who have the JRs aren't selling them in pet stores s they are worth a lot more than the GFF lines now. Both of your birds are nice birds though. I will ask my friend who is looking for a nice roo to see if he is interested in more of the GFF.

My other hen has a comb over.
all where bought a a poultry swap at a pet store in WPB. Roost is very sweet and good to his girls. Wish I knew their lines but since they were a gift I did not complain.

I just picked up some nice little Seramas if anyone is interested in the breed. I have 11 all together, and if my incubator hasn't scrambled the eggs in the incubator from the vibrating turner motor, I should have about 15 more in another 20 days. I will be over run with the little buggers!! All colors and I am pretty sure the lady sold me a bunch of little roos. They were a package deal as she was not able to have them any more. They are adorable though and a trio can fit comfortably in nice large bird cage with a stand. Among the bunch, I have 4 solid black boys/girls and I think a nice little paint girl. I do travel to Dunnellon and Crystal River at least once a month so can meet up or deliver if close enough.

Yep, my other friend's girls have that comb over as well. But one of my girls is from her pens and she does not have it...so far. Never know what will pop from chickens do ya? Very nice looking group and a super nice gift as well. I see they are loved and spoiled. :)
